As well as caring for four outdoor sites, the Farm delivers a range of community activities.
Outdoor education
We run a range of curriculum linked outdoor sessions for primary aged children including Forest school sessions with a level 3 trained leader. If you can't make it to us, we can come to you with an incubator, a chicken or advice about how to maximise your outdoor learning experience.
Youth engagement
The Farm offers a number of opportunities for 11 to 18 year olds including a weekly youth club, work experience and Duke of Edinburgh opportunities. We offer alternative curriculum placements including practical sessions in animal care, conservation and bushcraft.
Community engagement
The Farm is part of The Network, an inner city project working with people in the Easton, Ashley and Lawrence Hill wards. Coordinators are helping residents to share their ideas, skills and passions to make change happen in their neighbourhoods. Contact the Ashley and Easton Coordinator louclark@thenetworkbristol.org.uk
Supported training
We provide unique training placements in horticulture and animal care for adults with learning difficulties or mental health concerns. Our trainees manage the community garden, harvesting vegetables to sell to the cafe and ensure that our animals and farm site are well catered for.
Volunteer opportunities
We have a range of adult volunteer opportunities from weekly nature and craft sessions, gardening and growing opportunities, community action days to outdoor therapeutic sessions for people experiencing mental distress. We also host team challenge days for local businesses.
Family activities
We run a number of fun, inspiring activities for children of all ages. We aim to get children outdoors, discovering where food comes from, the wildlife on our doorstep and the fun to be had outside. To get started, check out our discovery trail.
Seasonal events
The farm loves a good celebration - especially when it gets us outdoors. Come and join us for one of our seasonal events at Boiling Wells or make a date and head to the Farm Summer Fair. As well as having a great time, you'll be helping us to raise vital funds that support our activities.
