Throughout the year we run a series of courses and workshops including the renown Organic Gardening Course by Tim Foster and several Keeping Chickens' Workshops.
Feel free to contact us if you'd like to partner or offer your own course by hiring a Farm site. We have several spaces available for hire, including classrooms, kitchens, a private woodland and a community building.
Online Vegetable Gardening Course
The Propagation Place's Online Vegetable Gardening Course for Beginners acts as a companion and guide into your first forays into growing your own vegetables.
The course material is a mixture of videos, activities and written information.
Organic Gardening Course by Tim Foster
Applications are now open for 2025!
From January 2025 we will be running our annual Organic and Allotment Gardening Course for those who want to learn how to grow their own fruit and vegetables.
This course — the best of its kind in Bristol — has been running for over 20 years and is designed with a great mixture of theory and practice.
Horticulture teacher and author Tim Foster shares his knowledge and skills, from pruning to sowing, pests to composting, rotations to companion planting and much more.
Read Tim's introduction letter and the 2025 course schedule.
Each session consists of approximately two hours of theory in the Community Room on Wednesday evenings and practical sessions on nearby allotments on selected Saturday mornings.
The fee for the 2025 course is £290 (full income) / £240 (low waged).
Keeping Chickens
We also offer courses for those intending to keep their own chickens. If you want to put your name on the waiting list for the next one, please email Farmer Bill on animals@swcityfarm.co.uk.
